The coaches are the heart of our organization.  We have a great mix of passionate and experienced coaches on board to give your daughter a well rounded hockey education.

ALEX MORRISON

Girls' Program Director
19u AAA Head Coach

Alex has a long and diverse background in all levels of hockey.  He started coaching youth hockey 25 years ago here in San Diego.  Over the course of the past 25 years, he has also refereed at the highest levels of hockey, including USA Hockey National Championships, over a decade of Professional Hockey, and 3 trips to the IIHF World Championships.  He is the 2 time head coach of Jr. Women's Team USA at the Inline Hockey World Championships, winning the silver medal each time.
He founded the girls ice hockey program in San Diego and has led our 19u girls teams to the USA Hockey National Championship tournament 2 of the the past 3 seasons.  In addition, he started the PGHL (Pacific Girls Hockey League).

Alex is also the Pacific District Representative on the USA Hockey National Girls Council and is charged with running the USA Hockey Pacific District Girls Player Development Camp.

ERIN OZTURK

19u AAA Asst. Coach

Program Skills Coach

Erin is originally from Huntington Beach, CA, and began her hockey career in the LA/Orange County area, where she played both youth and girls hockey growing up.  She attended and played hockey at Westminster School in Connecticut and graduated from Harvard University in MA, where she was recruited to play hockey, and transitioned to crew after suffering a severe concussion. She is now in a Ph.D. program at SDSU/UCSD studying Clinical Psychology with a focus on neuropsychology. Erin is devoted to helping players develop and reach their goals, both academically and athletically.

KEELY MOY

Coach​

Former D1 standout at Harvard University, Olympian with the Swiss National team, professional player and San Diego native Keely brings a wealth of hockey expertise to our program.  She and her brother Tyler run the Randy Moy memorial hockey camp each summer, and are invested in helping youth players from San Diego achieve their goals through hard work and development.

OLIVIA BRYANT

Coach​

Olivia is a Massachusetts native, where she began playing hockey on frozen ponds.  She excelled at the sport, leading her to play NCAA  Division 1 Women's Hockey for Sacred Heart University, where she was an alternate captain her junior year and captain her senior year.  She was a NEWHA league champion during her tenure.

After college, she was invited to play professional hockey in Europe, where she was co-captain of the Karlskrona Hockey Club in Sweden, then for Herlev Hockey Club in Denmark, then Lakers Karnten in Austria.

Now back in the US, Olivia has turned her hockey focus to coaching, where her knowledge, leadership, and love of the game can be offered to the next generation.

MEGAN RIVERA

Megan has been in the Southern California girls hockey community for 10 years. Starting with the LA Kings Hockey Development team, she worked full-time creating and sustaining multiple youth and adult hockey programs. She specialized in programs to help boost girls hockey in SoCal. In 2015, she co-founded the LA Lions program and was a coach until 2018. She coached and mentored the Lions' first ever graduating class which consists of NCAA D1, D3, and ACHA players. Megan is a native of Harrisburg, PA and played hockey at Boston College from 2006-2009.

TREVOR KURTH

Technical Coach
 

Trevor is originally from British Columbia, Canada where he developed a deep passion for hockey.  He has been active in coaching at all levels of youth hockey since 2008.  He is proud to be a part of growing girls hockey in San Diego and is committed to helping build a program that prepares the athlete for each new level.  He has been involved with the San Diego Saints program at all ages and levels, and has been instrumental in developing curriculum and standards that the Angels have been utilizing in developing female players of all ages.

AMANDA CHERREY

BLAKE BOLDEN

Coach

Amanda was born in Alberta, Canada and grew up in Minnesota.  She transitioned from figure skating to hockey at the age of 12, and quickly picked the game up.  She played varsity high school hockey in MN with the Wyzata Girls team, and was captain her seinor year.  Outside of the school season, she played AAA club hockey as well as rugby.  Most recently, her fitness focus has been on CrossFit, golf, voleyball and surfing, and is excited to add hockey back into the mix.  Her focus is to develop well-rounded and long-term athletes within the San Diego Angels program.

ALLIE ERA

12u AA Head Coach

Allie was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona where she grew up playing both ice hockey and inline hockey. She played ice at the national level with the LA Selects and ended up playing ice hockey in college at SUNY Plattsburgh where she won an NCAA Championship her senior year in 2014. She has also competed at the world level representing Team USA Women’s Inline Hockey team since she was 15 and is currently the captain.
Allie is passionate about growing the sport for girls and women and has created the Women’s Roller Hockey movement to create equality for girls and women in the sport of hockey. She is excited to continue to grow the game while working as a skating coach at Hockey Development Center San Diego and helping support the growth with the Angels this year!

Coach

Blake is arguably one of the top women's hockey players in the world, and we at the SD Angels are very appreciative of her commitment to helping our girls be the best they can be.  She is a native of Cleveland, OH, and attended Boston College, where she was played women's hockey for 4 years.  She then played in both North American Women's professional hockey leagues, winning a championship in each league, and was named to each league's all star team.  She was a member of the Buffalo Beauts, and was named the league's best Defender in her last professional hockey season.  She is now a professional scout with the NHL's Los Angeles Kings as well as a hockey reporter for ESPN.
